Victoria Pile - Comedy Writer/Director
Widely described as ‘the most important woman in British Comedy’ Victoria Pile began her career as a writer contributing to shows such as ‘Spitting Image’ and ‘Not The Nine O’Clock News’, whilst creating sketches and characters for Lenny Henry and Tracey Ullman. Her first series as Writer,Producer,Director was the ground-breaking hit show ,‘Smack The Pony’ which won Victoria two international Emmy awards and was nominated for BAFTA ‘Best Comedy Series’ 2003.
Victoria moved on to create the conceptually challenging and often surreal ‘Green Wing’ starring Olivia Colman, Tamsin Greig, Mark Heap, Darren Boyd, Sarah Alexander, Michelle Gomez, Stephen Mangan, Julian Rhind-Tutt and Sally Phillips.
The first series finally won Victoria a well deserved BAFTA for the Pioneer Award in 2005 confirming that her writing and brand of physical comedy was hugely popular with audiences.
In 2006 Victoria was commissioned to write, produce and co-directed the second and final series of ‘Green Wing’ as well as a much-lauded Green Wing Christmas Special.
In 2010, as part of the Comedy Showcase Season, C4 commissioned Victoria to Write, Produce and Direct her new show ‘Campus’ Starring Andy Nyman and Joseph Millson.
Over the last eight years Victoria has also directed numerous ad campaigns for Sneezing Tree, including campaigns for Maltesers starring Catherine Parkinson, Amanda Abbington. Utterly Butterly, Seat ‘Leon’ starring Mark Heap and Marcus Garvey.
In 2012 Victoria co-wrote and directed over thirty commercials for the Direct Line Campaign starring Chris Addison, Alexander Armstrong, Doon Mackichan and Darren Boyd. |
